About Us

Sanmat, formerly Sri Someshwar Nath Mahadev Trust, came into being in 2007 by two young college graduates Amit Choubey and Nitesh Kumar. They believed that the sustainability and scalability of policies and programs lies in clear and well-defined implementation processes. They, thus through Sanmat, focussed on bridging the governance and implementation gaps in execution of various government and non government programs to reach the most marginalized population in northern India.
Creating self-sustainable communities in India.

Benefitting from strong partnerships with state governments, the scale of Sanmat’s operations spans three north Indian states – Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, impacting 200,000 people through improved livelihood and education, and health.

Access to education through government schemes: Socio-economic upliftment through education is a 3-step process:

Sanmat has worked on providing access to government schemes under the Right to Education (RTE) Act and the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, 2009. Our work with RTE led to the admission of 6500 children in the top schools of Patna. Sanmat runs bridge courses for drop out children seeking readmission in schools. This has helped them in meeting the learning gap.
Inclination towards STEM subjects:
By situating STEM subjects in the broader context of their lives, Sanmat empowers children to become creative, critical and reflective thinkers. Sanmat has collaborated with Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to promote secondary students’ interest in STEM fields.
